Woodhaven hears the call to be a member of our community.
Whether it be the community of our own congregation, our neighborhood, our
church at large or the world. We are striving to be good stewards of the gifts
given to us as we serve our community.
ChristCare Small Groups
A circle of care with Christ at the center. Small
groups gather together to include: Community building, Bible study, Prayer and
Worship, Missional Service.
Minute Man Fund
Within our own congregation there are times when any one of us can fall on
hardship. Woodhaven recognizes this and has a fund that is set aside for
administration by the minister, within parameters set up by session, to aid
those who are members of our church. At any time one can designate an offering
for that fund.

Craft Fair
The first Saturday in October is set aside for Woodhaven’s annual Craft Fair.
It is a wonderful time of fellowship and hard work for everyone in the
congregation. Crafters from all over rent booths and sell wares. Woodhaven
supports it’s ministries with lunch and baked goods sales. With ample
advertising we draw in community members to enjoy the hospitality of Woodhaven
Presbyterian Church and hopefully a desire to return and worship with us.

Irving Cares
Woodhaven has been a supporter of the ministry of Irving Cares for many years.
They are an organization that assists the local community with housing, utility
bills, and food. We have a bucket offering of pocket change on the last Sunday
of each month. The children of Woodhaven carry buckets around to members of the
congregation for pocket change and the amount collected goes to Irving Cares.
There are also a few members of this congregation who volunteer at the Irving
Cares Center one or two days a week.

Walk In Assistance
Members of the community see a church building as a haven. We at Woodhaven wish
to continue supporting supplications for assistance so we keep small bags of
food on site. Enough to last a weekend or holiday until further assistance can
be sought. There is a box in the church kitchen were food donations are
collected and readied for walk ins or to deliver to Irving Cares.

The Stew Pot
On the 1st, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays of each
month volunteers are lined up to help serve the free lunch at First Presbyterian
Church in downtown Dallas. Volunteers are either needed in the serving line or
to keep the beverage glasses full. We meet at Woodhaven’s north parking lot at
11:00 am and carpool to First Presbyterian by 11:10 am. Usually we return by
1:00 pm.

Adopt-A-Case-Worker
Irving Family Advocacy Center works with Children Protective Services to help
many children in foster care and families in crisis. These children are in
special need of feeling loved and cared for. Woodhaven works closely with Lisa
Cardenas, our case worker, helping to fill the needs of children at special
times of the year. We put together Easter baskets, Christmas stockings and back
to school items so these children can feel special. Woodhaven is a notoriously
generous church and our case worker usually has more than she asks for.

Christmas Family Project
Besides the stockings that we put together for our caseworker’s children,
Woodhaven also adopts several families from the Irving area at Christmas. We
help them with food donations and gift certificates to help them through the
holiday season as well as providing their children with stockings, too.
